I honestly have always wanted a little sister, and yesterday, I got my Little Sister! 🙂
A few of our student-athletes helped out at a Big Brothers Big Sisters event hosted on campus last night and the turnout was awesome! There were a ton of different stations for the kids to make paintings, bracelets, book markers and so many more crafts and games!! I felt at times our very own student-athletes were having more fun than the kids which was hilarious to see!
All the beautiful paintings! 🙂
Look at these smiles!
If you have never done a Big Brothers Big Sisters event before, I highly encourage you to do so at least once in your life. Honestly, these kids melt your heart and those smiles mean everything! They first walk into the room attached to their parents hips and extremely shy, but then once you see them break out of their shell it is all worth it. I love kids and I love helping those in need so this event was by far one of my favorite! My Little for the night looked at me before she had to leave and said, “Will you be my Big Sister?” My heart melted and I literally had tears in my eyes. I mean how can I say NO to that?!
It’s unreal the difference we all can make in a young child’s life. My heart literally aches for these children and it has motivated me to help set up more events like we had last night so that our student-athletes and students of Marian can become role models in these beautiful-hearted children’s lives.
I am just so proud of my girls for all the volunteering they have been doing the past few weeks. The more opportunities I give them to work with kids or those in need throughout the community, they jump on the opportunity and are such amazing role models. Last week we helped paint the inside of our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore and again had more fun then we probably should have!
Volunteering these past few weeks honestly has been life changing for me and I’m sure for a few of my girls. It’s crazy to see what a few hours out of our day can do for those who just need a helping hand.
If you are looking for your purpose. Or are in a slump right now. Check out your nearest Big Brothers Big Sisters program or Habitat for Humanity and see what you can do to help. It is honestly life changing for you, the children and the community! 🙂
